SAWE Board of Directors Meeting Minutes and Budget

The SAWE Board of Director Meeting was held May 23, 2020.  The minutes and budget are now available.  The files in this post are the full meeting minutes and the abbreviated budget summary.

For the meeting minutes, one tab of the workbook is the complete meeting minutes including action items. The second tab contains only the action items. Per the action item to Agenda Item 8.74, Chapter Directors shall “Take the presentation and present the objectives to their respective chapters”.

Texas Chapter Meeting – Online – June 4, 2020 5:30pm CDT

The SAWE Texas Chapter will be hosting a virtual meeting on June 4 at 5:30 PM.

Since our last regular meeting was cancelled and it has been a while since we last met, we wanted to get together to discuss some important topics. We will be discussing the Board of Directors Meeting and the upcoming first SAWE Tech Fair.

Volunteers Needed April 4-5 for SAE Aero Design West – Weighing Team

The LM Aero Mass Properties team will again be supporting the SAE International Aero Design West 2020 Competition (LM supplies the scales and we also represent the SAWE Texas Chapter) the weekend of 3-5 April at Thunderbird Field, Benbrook Lake. We will be the weigh team for the event and will weigh the many unique aircraft and the loads they will carry in the flying competitions. We usually have a team of 3 to 5 people supporting the Saturday flight rounds from roughly 7 AM to 6 PM (includes time for setup – flights start at about 8-8:30 thru 5 PM) and then again Sunday thru Noon.

Other volunteers are also needed as flight stewards.

There are currently 80 some total teams from around the world signed up for three classes of aircraft (Regular/Micro/Advanced) competitions where a variety of “passengers/luggage/habitats/supplies” are carried and/or dropped.

The event is open to the public, and everyone is invited to come out and see the unique aircraft designs and watch the competitions.

Volunteers needed for Fort Worth Regional Science & Engineering Fair

The SAWE Texas Chapter has been a longtime supporter of the Fort Worth Regional Science and Engineering Fair.  Each year we have the opportunity to participate in this event for Elementary thru High School students by helping judge the exhibits and awarding an SAWE Special Award. This is a good opportunity for the Chapter to reach out to High School Seniors in our community.

Again this year, the FWRSEF will be held at UTA College Park Center in Arlington on Monday, February 24th for the judging.

Feb 2019 Chapter Meeting – Feb. 6, 2019 @ Central Market in Fort Worth

The Texas Chapter will be meeting at Central Market in Fort Worth Thursday, February 6, 2020.

Meeting begins at 6:00 pm and will meet in the cafe area.

We will discuss the upcoming Fort Worth Regional Science Fair and SAE Aero-design chapter volunteer events, and upcoming chapter officer elections. If you would like to run for an officer in the chapter please contact Brian Huber.

Texas Chapter Holiday Social, December 12 at Panther Island Brewing

The Texas Chapter will be hosting the annual Holiday Social event at Panther Island Brewing on Thursday, December 12 at 6 PM.

Pizza will be provided!

So come hungry. Grab yourself a drink. Catch up with friends both old and new.

And enjoy the evening with us.

Fall 2019 Chapter Meeting – Oct. 3, 2019 @ Central Market in Fort Worth

The Texas Chapter will be meeting at Central Market in Fort Worth Thursday, September 12.

Meeting begins at 5:30 pm and will meet in the cafe area.

The Texas Chapter is seeking a College Liaison- someone who will be the point of contact to local colleges to keep the college and their students appraised of SAWE international and local chapter activities as we strengthen the recognition of the mass properties discipline at the colleges. If you are interested in becoming the College Liaison for our chapter please let me know.
