Abstract
SAWE Recommended Practice (RP) A-8 has been used in essence for the format of military aircraft mass properties for decades. RP A-8 forms the basis for effective communication within the mass properties community.The paper revisits the genesis of RP A-8, its importance, and makes recommendations for potential future changes to the RP in order to accommodate future aircraft design architectures.
