Abstract

In 1989 and 1990, LTV Aerospace and Defense Company, Aircraft Division supported an independent research and development program titled Lightweight Structures. This program focused on developing innovative design and manufacturing concepts which have the potential to reduce aircraft structural weight. Reversible bonding is one such concept that emerged from the lightweight structures program. It is capable of reducing future aircraft acquisition and support costs as well as decreasing weight.
