Abstract
The Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI) poses a new set of requirements for spacecraft systems. This has presented strong challenges to a broad spectrum of engineering disciplines, including mass properties. This paper presents an overview of the terminology and technical challenges associated with SDI and also discusses specific impact of SDI on mass properties engineering.
