Abstract

The computer drawing machine is the primary drafting tool producing engineering drawings with in the aircraft industry. Computervision’s Designer V System is one of the computer systems producing advanced aircraft drawings at General Dynamics Fort Worth. The Mass Properties Group was given the task of determining if this System could be used for the additional task of analyzing the advanced aircraft being designed on them for the purpose of predicting advanced weights. This paper intends to show that the Computervision System can do this task. It also intends to aid future designers of analysis programs with an understanding of these machines and the approach to solving this task that was taken in this endeavor.
