Abstract

This paper deals with the design and weight history of the VAK 191 B V/STOL-Strike-Recce-Aircraft, highlighting the program schedule with the most important milestones in the development program as well as the aircraft design, including the requirements, design processes, research and development test programs and the final aircraft design. Special emphasis will be given to the weight history with detailed discussion of projected weights, weight growth and problem areas affecting aircraft design and weights. In addition to that a brief description of the flight test results and the aircraft growth potential with respect t o operational application will be presented with consideration of possible design improvements and the corresponding weight repercussions, based on the development work carried out until the program was terminated.
