Abstract
In modern turbofans, composition between lightness and life involves better phenomena knowledge (unknowing effects to reduce).
At the moment, material specialists have cleared up creep life problems by using advanced characteristics alloys. But the main problem is stay low cycle fatigue damage which appears with engine commercial operating. There appears to be a necessity of low cycle fatigue and residual life capabilities analysis.
Presentation will be open on rotors behavior for two reasons:
– rotating component emphasis breakdown involves dramatic issue for passengers
– better materials phenomena knowledge allowed hoop speeds and rotor stages number decreased, therefore costs and weight too.
Materials cyclic life tests and relationship between test results and full components capability are explained.
A good confidence into our predictions is needed; all care actions to reach this purpose are exposed.
