Abstract
This paper describes the results of the work performed during this phase of the ADCA program. The objectives were to show that the unrestrained application of cornposite materials to a new aircraft will produce a smaller and lighter aircraft that can perform the same mission as its metal counterpart. This study was performed under Air Force Contract F-33615-75-C-3124 sponsored by the Flight Dynamics Laboratory.
The paper deals with the vehicle selection, determination of component weight savings due to the use of composites, and a comparison between the baseline and its metal counterpart.
