Abstract
This paper presents a philosophy for the function and responsibilities of the weight engineer’s contribution for a new aircraft design,
from just prior to rollout and through FAA certification.
Many are aware of the workings and functions of the weight engineer in the design and development of a new aircraft. However, it is
felt that the weight engineer’s role in flight test development and certification demonstration is one with which few are acquainted.
