Paper
Abstract
This paper was presented at the Twenty-first Annual National Conference of the Society of Aeronautical Weight Engineers at Seattle, Washington, May 14-17, 1962. This paper presents a general review of the weight and balance considerations in loading transport airplanes and suggests methods of evaluating airplane loading characteristics. Several means of presenting data illustrating the loading characteristics of passenger, cargo, and combination cargo-passenger airplanes are described. Methods of analyzing such data for the purpose of determining the quality of the loading characteristics of any transport airplane are discussed and opinions are presented concerning the relative importance of the factor affecting airplane loadability.
