Abstract
This paper is a revised approach to finding the average airline passenger weights and gender distribution in 1959. Various sources of data were examined. The results of this paper, using existing actuarial and anthropometric data, adjusted for age and chronological variations, and examined statistically, are as follows:
The average male airline passenger has a weight of 163 pounds with a standard deviation of 25 pounds. The average female airline passenger has a weight of 144 pounds with a standard deviation of 22 pounds. The average first class operation consists of 79 percent men with a standard deviation of 12 percent. The average coach operation consists of 65 percent men with a standard deviation of 13 percent.
