Paper

C A Hangoe: 220. Comparison of Passenger Service Equipment. 1959.

Abstract

This paper examines the formation of a standard Aircraft Supplies and Removable Equipment weight per passenger. This includes meal and beverage supplies as well as safety, cabin, washroom, and meal service equipment. This data would be useful for operators to use for comparison purposes, but conditions such as geography, climatic conditions, aircraft day-night schedule, length of flights etc. will have an effect on this number for individual operators.
A survey was taken of operator’s supplies and removable equipment weight, and an equation which calculates the average weight of supplies and equipment per passenger which considers conditions that will affect the average weight of supplies was derived and shown as valid using the sample data submitted by airlines.
It was determined that the average weight per passenger of accommodation equipment and supplies through both the airline survey and the derived equation is 6 pounds per passenger (coach) and 12 pounds per passenger (first class).
