Abstract

Weight control has been the subject of many oral and written discussions in the post. Nevertheless, we are once again broaching this subject because we are of the opinion that at most aircraft companies an optimum approach to weight control has not yet been found.

Therefore, we would like to acquaint you with a new approach which has been successfully applied at VFW-Fokker, Bremen (Western Germany), for several years.

An essential prerequisite for this approach is that the Weight Department be composed of specialists who advise the technical departments directly, without going through the program management. On the basis of the experience gained hitherto, it can be said that this approach is more efficient and cost effective, which is corroborated by practical illustrations.
