Marine Systems Weight Estimating Methods Based on SAWE RP 14
Andy Schuster, GustoMSC
This half-day class will cover the fundamental and practical methods of estimating the weight for marine systems. The class will review weight estimating methods described in SAWE RP 14 “Marine Weight Estimating and Margin policy Guidelines,” followed by practical examples. The class will cover the theory and application of these methods on specific examples for whole ship design. Students will develop practical examples of method usage. Students will develop a ship weight estimate for a 200-foot ship by the end of the class. Students should review SAWE RP 14 located on sawe.org prior to taking this class.
