{"id":726,"date":"2023-08-17T22:33:57","date_gmt":"2023-08-17T22:33:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sawe.org\/chapters\/losangeles\/?p=726"},"modified":"2023-09-11T17:23:12","modified_gmt":"2023-09-11T17:23:12","slug":"meeting-minutes-la-conference-planning-7-29","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sawe.org\/chapters\/losangeles\/2023\/08\/17\/meeting-minutes-la-conference-planning-7-29\/","title":{"rendered":"Meeting Minutes, LA Conference Planning (7\/29)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SAWE Los Angeles Chapter Meeting Minutes<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Meeting Time<\/strong>:&nbsp; Saturday July 29, 2023 at 10:00 AM<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Meeting Location: <\/strong>Virtual (Zoom) meeting <strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Meeting Agenda<\/strong>: SAWE International Conference Planning &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Attendance<\/strong>: (4)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lawrence Cruz (LA Chapter President &amp; Webmaster)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">John Hargrave (LA Chapter Director &amp; SAWE Honorary Fellow)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dan Rowley (SAWE Vice President-Training, LA Chapter Vice President &amp; SAWE Fellow)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Michael Notarangelo (LA Chapter Secretary &amp; SAWE Fellow)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><u>SAWE LA Chapter International Conference Planning Virtual Meeting<\/u><\/strong><strong>:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lawrence called the virtual meeting to order at 10:00 AM<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\">\n<li>It was reported that the SAWE Board of Directors &amp; Executive Committee met to discuss International Conference.&nbsp; Errol Oguzhan gave the presentation and by unanimous decision, 2024 will be a virtual conference and 2025 will be an in-person conference to be hosted by the New Mexico Tech Student Chapter in Albuquerque New Mexico.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The LA Chapter is being requested to submit a bid package to host the 2026 International Conference by end of this year.&nbsp; The bid package content will be similar to the what was submitted by New Mexico:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Host city<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sites under consideration<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Schedule (note: new Tues-Thurs schedule for New Mexico conference)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Training<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Social &amp; Spouse\/Guest Events<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Financial breakeven Estimate<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vendor Participation (LA tends to attract a lot of vendor support)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Company Sponsorship\/Support<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Current LA Conference planning committee members include: Lawrence Cruz, Dan Rowley, John Hargrave, Mike Notarangelo, Richard Manning and Yi-Ling Tam.&nbsp; Other potential members include John Nakai, Kevin Tharp and possibly a new member such as Miguel Espinoza-Bazan (pending notification and confirmation).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Mike Notarangelo suggested that we can ask SAWE International to provide updated conference information such as meeting space requirements, estimated attendance figures, number of hotel bed nights, etc.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Bill Boze should have this information, plus it is documented after every conference in a \u201cLessons Learned\u201d report according to John Hargrave.
