Abstract

This paper was presented at the Nineteenth National Conference of the Society of Aeronautical Weight Engineers at Los Angeles, California, May 16 – 19, 1960. With some interest still being maintained throughout the aircraft industry in the value of a pound gained or lost, it may pay dividends in attempt to re-establish a simple method taking into account current trends. It is important to talk about an aircraft weight savings accomplishment and its monetary evaluation. Weight changes in an aircraft’s payload means money to an airline. Two main aspects are discussed which is of importance to the airline weight engineer. Aircraft Weight Growth and Manufacturer Weight Growth are evaluated to determine the payload impact to profits.
