Abstract

Previous SAWE papers have been presented on Microsoft Excel, but I feel I have some new material to contribute. The most important of these concerns some new capabilities found in the more recent versions of Excel, the Publish and Subscribe functions, as well as the more familiar table lookup functions. With these functions, it is possible to do database functions with a microcomputer that were previously handled by a mainframe computer. This paper is not intended as a user’s manual for Excel or a sales brochure for Microsoft. It assumes basic knowledge of computer spreadsheets.
