R Sharma: 1327. Production Wiring Weight Analysis System. 1979.

Abstract

This paper describes the complexity of the wiring systems of a wide-body aircraft. Lt describes the efforts that a Weight Engineer must make in order to determine the weight and center of gravity of those wiring systems. It then shows how to establish a Weight Analysis Program System which will reduce errors and alleviate tedium thereby producing more creative time for the Weight Engineer.
Even though the System was designed to meet the challenges presented by the Lockheed L-1011, it is applicable to more than the new-generation wide-body aircraft. With appropriate modifications to descriptors, the System can be made suitable for any craft – air, space, sea or land. The only requirement is that the craft wiring design employs a computer-based system.
