E L Baugh, E J Janis, E E Stewart: 1172. General Motors Goes Metric – ”A Series of Non-Events”. 1977.

Abstract

This paper begins by reviewing the established policy for metric conversion in General Motors. Metric teaching techniques, measurement-sensitive tools, and supplier relations are discussed. The Chevrolet Chevette experience is cited as an example of converting a production program to metric. It is concluded that metrication in GM is moving ahead efficiently and with relatively low cost and disruption of day-to-day operations.
