Abstract
A general approach is presented to advanced design weight analysis with respect to (1) problem areas in advanced design; (2) selection, interfaces, and sensitivities of several weight prediction levels (parametric-synthesis, detailed statistical analytical, detailed stress-member sizing); (3) estimating input data (externally applied loads, etc.); ( 4 ) a statistical analytical system (approximately 140 equations) for predicting manned-aircraft propulsion and fixed-equipment system weight; and (5) contractual weight-empty prediction error probability confidence analysis.
