Abstract

It is the objective of this paper to outline procedures for proving compliance of balance tolerances for situation where the tolerance are given in terms of bearing vibration or force. To accomplish this objective the nature of unbalance is discussed and a few of the vague terms applying to balancing are defined.
A means for specifying unbalance tolerances in a way understandable to those who do thealancing is suggested along with ways to prove compliance. Of special interest is a technique for compensating for tooling errors.
This paper is intended for those with a knowledge of balancing and therefore does not attempt to derive any fundamental relationships. However, the suggestions made should be of value in the actual task of specifying and complying with balancing requirements.
