R E Bockrath: 160. Weight Savings With New Magnesium Alloys. 1957.

Abstract

The past ten years have brought enormous changes in the magnesium industry – in production facilities, in uses and number of users, and particularly in alloy development. The demand for heat resisting alloys continues as designers seek higher performance in planes and missiles. With higher speeds, operating temperatures also increase. This paper offers a review of recent alloy development and shows how thorium alloys have extended magnesium’s service temperature range.
