Abstract

‘Many estimates have been mode of the ‘money value’ of weight saved in airplane structures, and there is probably no more important problem confronting the aeronautical engineer today.’ This statement is quoted from the October 1930 issue of AVIATION magazine. As far as I know, no universally accepted solution to this important problem has been developed up to the present time. This paper presents what I think is a new approach to the problem but does not assume to have the solution.
