Abstract
Many ingenious ways of saving weight are shown in the design of components but the purpose of this paper is to summarize some of the ways in which adhesives have been used to advantage in making more efficient structures. As the use of metal adhesives followed those of wood it is interesting to trace their use through the ages to the present day.
