Abstract

The use of weights in small craft is a tool in a field that is still largely an art rather than a science. Weights have been known and used in the design and in the construction of vessels since the beginning of construction. Because of the physical size of the business enterprises, the weights must do more than merely determine centers of gravity and overall weight. They must and should beused as a means of determining cost and as a means of interpolating and extrapolating in preliminary design.
