Abstract

On February 15, 1946 the C.A.A. issued Safety Regulation Release No. 198 covering the initial establishment of the average passenger weight presently being used, namely the 165-pound winter weight and 160-pound summer weight. These values were based on statistical data obtained from various sources which had shown that the general average of personal weights was considerably lower than the 170-pound weight used as the computing standard at the time.
